Seasonal Turf-Tips
There are three types of disease that we see most often are
SPRING Fertilization, Preventative Pre-emergent herbicides (Dursban, Diazinon) weeds (i.e. dallisgrass, broadleaf weeds) and insect controls (i.e. grubworms) sharpen lawnmower blades,, and observer stress areas. Aeration for certain turfgrasses may be necessary to ensure proper growth.
SUMMER Watch for insect damage (primarily chinch bugs , army worms, and grub worms). Water properly, fertilize lightly, and be sure to raise your mower height in the heat of the summer. The appearance of most fungi will be a rarity as it is generally to hot for them to take hold.
FALL Winter fertilization, any preventative preemergent herbicides for weeds, and preemergent fungicides for the prevention of fungi. Watering will depend on rain fall. In the event of extreme freeze during the winter time make sure to water all plants, shrubs, trees, and grass - well before the freeze. |
